It has been 100 years since Walt Disney founded the filmmaking company Disney. As the corporation continues to grow through the incorporation of Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and National Geographic, the original Disney touch is sometimes thought to be “lost.” As the company grows, is Disney losing its magic?
The argument is that the movies currently being composed by the studio are losing the nostalgic feel that Disney’s originals had. The creation of more live action and CGI movies, yet less 2D animations, causes grief to Disney fans all over the world. However, that doesn’t mean that the movies being created today don’t have the “Disney magic.”
In recent years, Disney’s franchise has released a multitude of movies such as “Elementals,”“Peter Pan and Wendy,” the live action “Little Mermaid,” and “Haunted Mansion,” which are majorly live action films. However, when looking back to the beginning of Disney, the company went 27 years before ever releasing their first live action movie, “Treasure Island” in 1950.
If Disney were to continue solely with its original style and only use traditional productions, their works wouldn’t be fitting for current technology and time. Disney may have more adult topics included in their productions when compared to their originals. That doesn’t stop them from simultaneously creating enjoyable entertainment for their younger viewers and their adult audience who’ve grown up with Disney.
Whether you like mature, silly, magical movies, musicals, or cartoons, Disney has something for everyone and continues to produce enjoyable content for all ages. Disney’s magic is being presented in many different ways and each of those help the enchantment spread:children enjoy the recent Disney movies. Therefore, the power of the films is still present; isn’t that what it’s all about?
