Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know the game Five Nights At Freddy’s, but just in case you’re not the kind of person who can sit through 8-hour lore videos, here’s some basic information.
Five Nights At Freddy’s is a popular indie horror game that was released on Aug. 8, 2014, by Scott Cawthon; An at the time unknown game developer from Texas. The 36 year old prior to the release of one of the most defining game series of the 2010’s was not exactly fancy. He started his game making career making christian and family games, to little success unfortunately. However after the release of one of his early games, Chipper & Sons Lumber Co, he had received a comment saying the characters looked like scary animatronic dolls. This inspired Scott to make a game with that exact premise, and after the games release, it had become one of the biggest games from 2014 and many years after, only sharing the spotlight with other indie games such as Undertale or Minecraft.
With the surge of popularity came new music, which meant many songs, such as the following, with a collective view count of roughly one billion and thirty-two million.“Five Nights Of Freddys 1 Song”, “It’s Been So Long”, “Die In A Fire”, “I Can’t Fix You”, and “I’ve Got No Time,” all by The Living Tombstone, one of the biggest FNAF song creators.
It’s safe to say that you’ve probably heard at least one of these somewhere, whether you realize you did or not, these songs have become common background music for many TikToks or Youtube animations.
And It’s not a stretch to say these songs were a crucial part to the entire fandom, so shouldn’t there have been more in the movie as well?
If you already didn’t know, the “Five Nights Of Freddy’s 1 song” by The Living Tombstone, was featured in the end credits of the movie. Almost everyone at the theater I was at was screaming with happiness. But, despite this, there could have been more: there were plenty of FNAF songs that were set during the first game and would’ve fit the theme of the movie. They could have had it playing during intense scenes, playing quietly in the background, or on a radio.
This movie, at its core, is a sort of fan service to the FNAF fans who have followed the series since YouTuber Markiplier’s first video about the game. It feels disgraceful to the fandom to have only played one of the songs of FNAF fan’s childhoods.
But if there is one thing they did get right, it was including Matthew Patrick, also known as “Matpat.” The YouTuber has spent almost a decade of his life solving the lore of FNAF, so his appearance in the movie was very fitting and appreciated by the fans.
