Did you know?
When playing a sport, you might feel unmotivated and start to struggle getting up to go to practice. Each student has their own reasons for these feelings, but there are a couple of common rationales as to why players may struggle. Players might not go to practice due to falling out of love with the sport, feeling drained after a long day or week of school, mental strength, or a fear of failure, embarrassment, or not being liked, to name a few reasons. With all of these things running through an athlete’s head, some come up with excuses to miss practice.
Track Coach, Bryan Wadlow
“I’ve always been surprised when people miss practice because it’s their birthday.”
Football Coach, Brian Mehl
“He couldn’t participate in certain drills at practice because his eyes were still hurting from the onions that his mom cut for school.”
Freshman, Benjamin Rieke
“Probably for a haircut.”
Senior, Natalie Marthaller
“I said that my tires exploded on the side of the road, and I couldn’t make it for a week.”
