A week before the portal for scholarships on the Albany Public Schools Foundation opened, seniors were gathered within the performing arts center at West Albany. Now that the portal has opened on February 14, seniors have begun to fill out the application and review the scholarships available.
“At first I didn’t think I would be able to [get] a scholarship because my goal is to go to trucking school, but then I found out that a scholarship will cover CDL,” senior Billy Brown said.
There is $244,800 that is to be awarded in scholarships this spring for West Albany, South Albany, and AOS. These are given through different forms of
“I think it’s good that they’re doing that to help people, people need [that] help to pay for college,” senior Jocelyn Salazar said.
The deadline for the applications is March 14. This will give time for the donors to read and decide who will earn the scholarship they are sponsoring.
