“Some of these slang [words] need to be stopped because it’s just kind of getting offensive,” Senior Ellary Harvey said. “They’re just kind of mean, like ‘bop’ is so mean. You don’t even know the person you’re calling [those] words.” Along with offensive words there is slang Harvey feels is outdated. “I’m over the word ‘slay’. Was so 2020 and ‘period’, I’m over that one too. [People] just say ‘slay’ [and] ‘period’ to everything.” she said.

“I don’t know if a lot of people still use ‘Alpha, beta, sigma’ stuff, but I say it a lot [unironically]. I think it’s funny. I really have been using ‘the huzz’. I use it whenever [there’s] a really attractive guy around the school.” Sophomore Aveya Anderson said. “I also normally say ‘the huzz’ or I say ‘chopped’ a lot too.” Sophomore Valeria Gomora Remdon said.

Freshman Karder Collom’s most used slang word is “tuff”. “It just fits the atmosphere that I get [from] my friend group. They all say it and I [do too].” Collom said.
