Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, is a testing day at West Albany High School. This testing day is new this year. Students will be taking the ACT and the PACT. There was a plan to have the ASVAB, short for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, as one of the tests. The ASVAB is a standardized test administered by the U.S. military to determine one’s enlistment eligibility, as well as potential career paths. However, due to the government shutdown, it has been canceled.
College and career center coordinator Teresa Davis said, “As of yet, we don’t have a set for [students to take the ASVAB].”
Although there is no set time that students can take the ASVAB through WAHS, there is a chance that a dedicated time to take the test will be set up for the spring of next year.
In the meantime, the ASVAB is available to take through the recruiters that come to West Albany High School, and there is a practice test available through Military.com.
