After the JV game Tuesday night, the varsity girls volleyball team entered the beach day-themed gym with big smiles, ready to play as hard as they could. The game started close, with the teams tied 2-2, and no one able to predict the outcome. Eventually, the Bulldogs pulled ahead to win the first set 25-16. The second set was another clear victory for West, 25-12. In the third set, the Bulldogs gained a lead once again, 24-12, but on Wests’ game point, Lebanon scored. The cheers coming from the visiting bleachers were deafening, but were quickly quieted by the victory cheers from the tropically-clad WAHS section after the winning spike. The team is now ranked third in the state in the 5A division. Sophomore Libbey Baldwin attributes the team’s success to its state of mind. “I’m super proud of our team today,” Baldwin said, “because even though we started off a little shaky, our positivity and will to finish strong pulled us through.”
