When it comes to teacher appreciation week some teachers get left out more than others, especially substitutes. Substitute teacher Hannah Steinmetz graduated from Oregon State and has been substituting for our school since the beginning of the school year, most notably as science teacher Shana Hains’ long term substitute when she was out for a medical procedure.Some things that she enjoys are video games, playing Dungeons and Dragons and anything that lets her be creative. She originally wasn’t going to be a teacher but loved interacting and helping people, which isn’t as present in a lab.

“So I always had a passion for science. And I loved biology personally. And so I knew I wanted to do something in that space. But I sort of realized in college that the idea of sitting in a lab  by myself making cultures sounded really lonely and boring and I love being with people, interacting with people and I love helping people.” said substitute teacher Hanna Steinmetz.
