The pressure of being a quarterback can be a lot to deal with, but not for seniors Lukas Hews and Roman Sardar. For these seniors, the feeling of not letting down their teammates, as well as winning the game and feeling the building pressure from the coach and the other team can be alot. .
“I don’t think [the stress] affects me that much this year,” Hews said. “I really think there’s a lot of pressure at the quarterback position, but when you’re prepared and you work hard, there’s no pressure.”
Both Hews and Sardar have people they look up to.
“[Cassius McGinty] has inspired me to work harder…he really struck a chord with me and got my competitive fair going,” Hews said.
For Sarder, he looks up to his teammate.
“[Lukas Hews] definitely influenced me a lot and helped me get better throughout the year, Sardar said. “He is a really good player and I look up to him.”
Furthermore, Hews wants to encourage others to join the football family.
“I would definitely say our community ability and that everyone, football team and family and that by going in and trying out for football and working your butt off and getting better,” Hews said. “You truly become a part of the West Albany fam.”
As far as football outside of school goes, Sardar isn’t too sure yet.
“We’ll see where my education takes me… If there’s an option, I would like to [play], but if I can’t, that would be fine too,” Sardar said.
