With a new school year, changes arrive. One of these changes was the library reorganizing the book sections. But does this help students find books that they want to read?
One of the most noticeable transformations was the relocation of the sci-fi, magic, and fantasy genres. This change was, at first, an unwelcome one for me because I could not find where my favorite genre was. However, during my second trip to the library I was met with a fun surprise. The back of the library which used to be reserved for the encyclopedias was now where the magic and fantasy books were. It felt weird at first going into that section of the library; however, it was nice and cozy, the perfect vibe for these books.
Another big change that happened was the dynamic shelving that the librarians incorporated into the shelves of most of the library. This style of shelving is one where you break up the sections of monotonous backs of books with stacks of series. This can not only help people find new books, but it can help students see what books are in what series and which ones are not as likely to be in a series.
These changes are some that help highlight the library’s books that have been forgotten in the back while putting books that are more likely to be found in their place. Everything is nice, organized, and easy to find, making the entire library experience more enjoyable than it once was before. All of this comes together to make the library a more exciting place for readers to rediscover favorite books and find new exciting reads.
