Out of millions of brackets that were filled out at the beginning of March for this year, 37,356 correctly predicted the championship game happening today. 15 students in the WAHS March Madness fundraiser have picked Villanova to win it all, while only one student has picked Michigan to win. Out of 64 people all together 25% are still able to correctly guess the winner and the tension is getting thicker with each moment counting down until the game starts at 6:20 p.m. tonight.
Every year there is always a time where classrooms are filled with cheering children and teachers as they go from class to class watching the madness overtake classrooms, laptops, SMARTBoards, and phones. The tournament isn’t a distraction from school, but rather a time that brings some kids together to enjoy sports how they should be enjoyed. With the people around you.
Having this fundraiser helped amplify a sense of unity in our school for the short time it was here. It seemed as though everybody had an opinion about who would win and it stretched between the people who know the most about college basketball, to the people who know close to nothing. Students and teachers alike get into the games and have fun while doing it.
