
The Philly Special was an amazing play made by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2018 Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. This play happened toward the end of the second quarter, involving quarterback Nick Foles, tight end Trey Burton, and running back Corey Clement. It started with center Jason Kelce snapping the ball directly to Clement, who ran to the left and pitched the ball over to Burton. Foles had slipped over to the right side, open after the defenders were fooled by the motion.Trey Burton saw the opportunity and passed the ball over to Nick Foles. Folescaught the ball, getting them a touchdown, and getting them a big lead of 22-12.
In 2024, the Chiefs scored their fourth win inthe Super Bowl against the 49ers. By the end of the fourth quarter, both teams were tied with 19 points, relying on overtime to determine
the winner. Starting overtime with the 49ers winning the coin toss, and deciding to receive the ball first. That ultimately got the 49ers a 27-yard field goal, making the score 22-19. With less than a minute remaining, the Chiefs were not in the mood to lose, resulting in Patrick Mahomes getting a touchdown, making the score 25-22 in the last five seconds, scoring a victory for the Chiefs.
WW: What is your favorite moment from the Super Bowl?
English teacher Arden Hanna: “Well, I’m a lifelong 49ers fan, so we haven’t had a ton of great moments.”
Freshman Maverick Webster: “I loved [it] when Jalen Hurts and the Eagles lost the Super Bowl in embarrassing fashion to the Chiefs.”
WW: Do you have any specific memories from the Super Bowl?
Hanna: “In 2023, it was the Niners versus the Chiefs, and we went to a restaurant. It was me, my dad’s family, and then all of my siblings were there, so we watched, and we had a ton of fun until we lost.
Webster: “When Cooper DeJean picked Patrick Mahomes and returned it for a touchdown to steal the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory.”
