West Albany High school had its first pep assembly on March 17 since two years ago when the pandemic started. Leadership advisor Eric Ihde started the pep assembly by honoring the “legendary status” of the swimming coaches and the state titles Sophomore Kyle Milburn, Senior Luke Milburn, Senior Chase Barnes, Sophomore Connor Dickerson, and Senior Brock Nelson earned at the state tournament.
Principal Susie Orsborn handed individual plaques to the swimming coaches Babette Romancier, Rob Romancier, and Bailey Dickerson. Both the Romanciers were especially given praise as Susie Orsborn stated that “They [the Romanciers] saw that there was no swim team at West Albany and decided to create one. And they’ve been coaching ever since.”
Rob Romancier has been coaching for the past 28 years until he retired recently. And Babette Romancier coached for 16 years, retiring this year.
