“Arther Vermchuk gave me this picture of him, and it reminds me of him. He was my favorite student. So I met him when he was a sixth grader in my algebra one class. So I have this picture of him and then I put it up during tests because I have to have something on the projector. And then I just remind the students that if they work hard, then maybe one day they could be my favorite student, but they’re not because Arther Vermchuk is my favorite student.”

“A student left it in my classroom after he and all of his friends had used it to leave it at each other’s houses in creepy places to freak each other out. They left it underneath their covers or in the shower or on their window ledge so that they would creep each other out because it was so ugly. Then once it had run its rounds and they had all been sufficiently creeped out, he brought it and left it on the shelf of awkward with the rest of the stuff. I really appreciated that story, like the fact that they creeped each other out before passing it on to my shelf there.”

“It is not able to hold water or you should not drink from it, because it could be lethal. But somebody put time into it and this was a student that I had in dog teams starting my first year here. We were both new to the school, they were a freshman and I was a new teacher. They became my student aid later on and they put time and effort into this. So that means something you know, it’s something fun to put on my desk and kind of display something. I enjoy getting those little gifts and just keep them out, because it’s always a reminder of that particular student, just kind of fun.”
