Beyond the swipe

Love explained in deeper meaning
Beyond the swipe

Love, in today’s society, has evolved significantly from past generations. Nowadays, relationships often appear to be more focused on physical attraction rather than the partner’s personality. The concept of love is complex, and many wonder if people truly understand its essence. In previous eras, there seemed to be stronger emotional bonds between couples compared to today.
One significant change is the prevalence of divorce, which has become more common in the modern era compared to a century ago. This shift can be attributed to various factors, including busier lifestyles, demanding careers, and limited free time, which makes it more challenging to meet and nurture relationships. The digital age has introduced its own set of challenges, such as miscommunication and ghosting, leading to frustration and confusion.
True love transcends the superficial aspects of attraction. It is a deep connection founded on understanding the couples core values, beliefs, and life goals. This connection creates a sense of companionship, where both partners feel they are a team working towards one goal. Love does not necessarily equate to long-term compatibility, and it’s possible for people to experience more than one true love in a lifetime.
Finding true love is vital because it can combat feelings of isolation and depression, which fosters a sense of belonging and happiness. Healthy relationships and friendships contribute to positive mental and emotional well-being, since loving and being loved by another person can boost self-esteem and confidence.
Understanding what love is becomes an opportunity for self-discovery. It reveals our capacity for acceptance, forgiveness, and patience while also exposing our preferences, morals, thought processes, and instinctive reactions. This self-awareness can lead to personal growth and improvement.
First, it’s crucial to practice self-love. Loving oneself is a fundamental step in finding and maintaining love in other relationships. When we love ourselves, we enter into relationships with a healthy self-image, reducing neediness and demands, resulting in more fulfilling and loving partnerships.

Overcoming the fear of putting yourself out there can be achieved through several strategies that prioritize your comfort and boundaries:

1. Reframe it as connecting: Rather than focusing on relationships, begin by simply meeting and interacting with others.

2. Define your level of openness: Strike a balance between maintaining an air of mystery and revealing your authentic self to potential partners.

3. Begin with small steps: If one-on-one dating feels daunting, consider starting with low-pressure situations like double dates with friends.

4. Leverage your support network: Inform your friends and family about your interest in dating and seek their advice and ideas. It’s essential to have a trusted confidant for regular conversations.
