On Feb. 27, during 8th period, the district sent a message to parents from the Albany Police Department advising them not to let their children walk or bike home to avoid any potential encounters with Brandon Beckner, whom the police were actively searching for.

Before being detained, the Albany Police Department released information on 37-year-old Beckner, who was last seen at 11:20 a.m. around SW 16th Ave, wearing a gray shirt, gray sweatpants, and a dark-colored hoodie. He was wanted for an alleged violent sex offense.

At 1:55 p.m., Principal Rich Engel announced over the intercom that the perpetrator had been caught that afternoon, meaning students would no longer need to arrange rides home after school and would be able to walk and bike home safely.
