The “Ber” Season Roles Into Albany

A student view on the “ber” season as it makes its way to Albany
The "Ber" Season Roles Into Albany

As the fall season begins I am gradually getting more excited for this year’s “ber” season. The “ber” season is accumulated from all the months that end in ‘ber’, September through December. Our time of daylight is gradually declining the closer we get to the official beginning of fall; I have already seen halloween decorations make their way out of storage bins and into the yards of family homes, as well as pumpkin spice candles finding temporary homes on the shelves of grocery stores.

Ever since elementary school I have loved the fall and winter. From picking a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch to staying home from school in the winter because of insane ice storms, the “ber” season has always been my favorite time of year.

Some of the most exciting things about the brisker weather is not only the nostalgia of getting out your dusty holiday decor box, but the food that makes its seasonal appearance and traditions that vary from person to person. As a public school student, I am looking forward to this year’s experience of the “ber” season not only in my personal life but in my school life.

Throughout my life as a student every year no matter what school I go to, whether it be elementary, middle or high school, I have been able to see the “ber” season come to life in my school building. At West Albany High School we have Homecoming, Powder Puff, Powder Tuff, Spirit Week, seasonal decor and the Winter Talent Show. These may not be the typical “ber” season experiences, but they are amazing school spirited activities that many students look forward to every year. When September began, I started to recall the fun activities from last school year’s “ber” season and got excited to change into the brisker season and move towards the holidays.

No matter what year it is, the “ber” season always repeats itself. It doesn’t only include fall months but winter ones as well. We get 4 months every year to live and build memories that revolve around the chiller part of the year. Some may use this time to wear cooler weather fashion, cook delicious pastries, create home crafts, go shopping, hang out with friends or spend way too much money at Hobby Lobby, but I’m excited to do it all!
