The annual summer reading program at the Albany Public Library has taken action as of June 2. The event will last until August 22, where kids can collect prizes for the number of days they have read.
Like usual, children, tweens, and teenagers are able to sign up for free and participate in the activities the library puts together every summer, but this summer with a new twist. Every year, the library chooses a theme for the program, and this year’s theme is called ‘explore the unknown’ which features unique forest characters. However, this summer’s twist is that each participant gets to choose from a team. The Sasquatch Squad, the Moth Mob, or the Loch Ness Knights. The library is keeping track of which teams come in to collect prizes from their summer reading as a fun competition. Both children and teens are allowed to participate in the new game. After choosing a team, each person will be given a unique pin to symbolize what team they are on and are able to show it off when they go to the library.
After signing up, a person is given a sheet with library sponsored activities that will happen throughout the summer for free. Children and teens are invited and encouraged to join.
