For the last few years, there’s been a steadily growing club in the district: The Albany/Corvallis High/Middle school bowling club. This club includes athletes from South Albany High School (SAHS) and West Albany High School (WAHS), Corvallis High School, and Crescent Valley High School, who compete with other high schools around the state.
“So [the] bowling club is a club from all [of the] Albany high schools, bowling on a team. They go to tournaments and things [like that] all around the state,’’ said Miranda, a supervisor and a parent of one of the athletes. “[We compete with] other area high schools in our district, like Dallas and Salem, they’re all over. There [are] six districts, and we all get together and go to state [championships]. I’ve watched my daughter find something she’s passionate [about], and it’s brought me lots of happiness.’’
Albany/Corvallis Bowling Club has many partnerships to keep it going, including but not limited to Southpaws Pizza, The Depot Cafe, and Hunking Law LLC.
Hailey, a bowling athlete in this district, talked about her experience. “It has been good, [it’s] my second year here, and all the coaches have been very nice. There’s a lot of very nice people here, and it makes me happy,” Hailey stated.”[It’s] my second year here, and all the coaches have been very nice. I did have some cool experiences, like when we went to the state championships last year [and] went to Klamath Falls, met my family and my mom; I had a blast.’’
