Have you met the new kid in F hall? Arden Hanna, West Albany High School’s new english teacher came to us after teaching at Central Catholic High School in Portland. She had previously taught English, Drama, and got her degree from Portland State University. She loves to read books and listen to musicals, especially the Addams family, as well as all things spooky. Take a peak inside her classroom and see all of the ghoulish decor that overruns every bookshelf and wall. Her passion for literature fuels each of her lessons as she strives to make every one of them entertaining and fun. But what does this change mean for Ms. Hanna? How has it effected her? 

WW: What are the differences that you noticed between WAHS and your old school?

Hanna: “ The staff. I feel so welcomed and already I’ve felt such a strong community.” 

WW: Why did you leave your old school?

Hanna: “ Both of my brothers live in Corvallis, and my sister lives in Monmouth and family is really important to me. “

WW: What made you want to become a teacher?

Hanna: “ My english teacher We’re still really close now, and he made me fall in love with literature. “ 

WW: Did you always want to teach English?

Hanna: “ It was definitely always english, but I taught drama for 5 years and it was crazy “
