Abstract Pieces of Advice for High School
Truths that all high school students need to hear, as told by a second semester senior
-Take Society and Nature.
-Keep your driver’s license in your phone case.
-There is no better time in your life to cut and dye your hair. If you’re considering it, do it.
-Give your cans and bottles to Mr. Zimmerman. No one will show more excitement to have them. Trust me on this one.
-Do not use Accutane.
-Find a great pair of shoes that you adore. Then, wear them every day until the soles fall off. Repeat.
-Have something you look forward to doing right after school’s out for the day.
-Take some Buzzfeed quizzes to find out which Disney princess you are.
-Go to the game.
-Take pictures.
-Make friends with someone whose experiences are extremely different than yours.
-Some days you will want to hide from the world. Some days you will want everyone’s eyes on you. Neither will ever come true and I’m sorry about it.
-If you are a freshman, find a senior to help guide you. Although they will be gone soon, you will make a great friend and have an in to everything upperclassmen.
-If you are a senior, find a freshman to take under your wing. Teach them everything you know about highschool and, in turn, you’ll learn something from them.
-Understand that everyone around you is changing at a rapid rate.
-You will be hurt. Give yourself the proper time to heal: not too little, not too long.
-Some people do marry their high school sweetheart.
-Try everything. You will be happier when you’re busy than you will be if you stay home.
-There will always be at least one person who fully believes in you.
